Method
- Brown ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon or spatula, about 7-8 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Add Kinder's Original BBQ Sauce, yellow mustard, apple cider vinegar, and water to the skillet. Stir thoroughly to combine.
- Simmer over medium heat for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the meat. Remove from heat.
- Preheat oven to broil setting.
- Using a serrated knife, slice the connected sheet of Hawaiian rolls horizontally in half, keeping tops and bottoms as single connected pieces.
- Place rolls cut-side up on a baking sheet. Broil for 30-60 seconds until lightly toasted and golden. Watch carefully — they burn quickly.
- Remove from oven. Set the top half of rolls aside. Spoon the meat mixture evenly onto the bottom halves. Sprinkle shredded cheddar over the meat.
- Return to the broiler for 1-2 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
- Top with thinly sliced red onion if desired. Place roll tops on to complete the sliders.
- Cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing into individual sliders. Serve immediately.

Notes
- Brown and drain properly — Get a solid sear on the beef before breaking it apart, then drain the fat before adding the sauce. Skip the drain and the sauce turns greasy instead of glossy.
- Simmer until it mounds — Seven to ten minutes of reduction gets the sauce to the right texture. Hold a spoonful over the pan — if it runs off immediately, keep going. It should sit and hold its shape.
- Broil the bottoms first — Toast the cut sides of the rolls before loading them. Thirty to sixty seconds under the broiler adds structure and stops the filling from soaking through.
- Slice the rolls as a sheet — Keep the 12-count pack connected, slice horizontally through the whole thing, and load the filling in one pass. Faster and more even than separating each roll first.
- Make the filling ahead — The meat mixture keeps in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat on the stovetop with a splash of water to loosen, then assemble and broil fresh when ready.
- Double the batch — The recipe scales clean. Use a larger skillet and a 9x13 baking dish for two 12-count packs. Broil timing stays the same.
- These sliders are built for a spread. Chips, dill pickle chips, and a sharp coleslaw round out a complete game day plate without much extra effort.
- From this collection, both the Bourbon Apple Coleslaw and the Sweet & Spicy Korean Coleslaw pair well here — the acidity in each cuts the richness of the BBQ filling cleanly. Serve extra Kinder's BBQ sauce and hot sauce on the side so people can dial in their own heat level.
- These also travel. Pack the filling in an airtight container and bring the rolls separately. Assemble and broil on-site at a tailgate or cookout — or skip the final broil and serve warm sliders straight from foil.
- Meat filling: Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 4 days. The flavor deepens overnight.
- Assembled sliders: Best fresh. To reheat assembled sliders, cover with foil and warm in a 350-degree oven for 10–12 minutes. The rolls soften slightly but the structure holds.
- Freezing: The cooked meat filling freezes well for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge. Reheat on the stovetop over medium-low, adding a splash of water if the sauce has tightened up. Don't freeze assembled sliders — the rolls don't recover well.
